RUSSIAN THIMBLES

The first thimble of the XIV century was found on the Russian territory in Novgorod. Novgorod is one of the most ancient towns in Russia, it was mentioned in chronicles in 859. The bronze thimble of XIV century is exhibited in the Museum of History of Novgorod. The Museum of History of Novgorod is located in the Novgorod Kremlin near the Sofia Cathedral and near the monument to the Millenium of Russia.
Thimble is exhibited with needles of the XI century at the hall of archeology. Thimble of gold color has a small hole at the top. This ancient thimble is very nice.
There is a thimble of corporal N.I. Ionov in the Museum too. N.I. Ionov was the military man in 1917. Besides iron thimble he had scissors and other things. All these things are exhibited at the military hall.
